ASHBURTON, Fehroaiy 27. At 7.30 this morning, as Mrs W. Burgess, of Mcthven, and another woman weredriving into Melhven from the hills in h trap, Mrs Burgess' husband rode up and fired at his wife with a revolver, hitting her in the forehead. He alsvi fired Vt *ho other woman, but missed and rode away. Airs Burgess received n»ed;cal attention, and was brought into Ashburton Hospital. Snc is in a precarious condition. Win. Burgess, her husband, a man of about 30, was afterwards touud drowned in a water-hole.
