CHRISTCHURCH, IJec. 14. At the Addir.gton sales to-day there i were fair entries in all departments, comprising 6625 sheep, 572 cattle, and 611 pigs. The attendance was small. Fat Cattle.— 2os to 24s per 1001b. for medium to prime beef. Store Cattle.— There was a moderate entry, and, except for fat grown stock, the demand was very dull. Fat Sheep. — There was a fair entry, consisting chiefly of ewes. The sale opened with a quiet tone, and as it went on and butchers' needs became satisfied, a very substantial reduction had to be made in the price of ewes. Wethers also suffered, but to a small extent, being supported by the competition of export buyers. Wethers may be quoted Is below the previous -week's value. Ewes sold with great irregularity, the decline on some pens being more than Is, and on others as much as 3s or 4s. The average fall was fully 2s. A few consignments of ordinary merinos suffered a similar decline. Toe range of prices for shorn sheep was for wethers 19s 7d to 23s sd, .prime heavy ewes 20s to 23s 3d, other ewes 16s to 19s 6d, merino wethers 12s 7d to 16s 9d, merino ewes 10s.
