What's Wanted is a very superior, wellbred colt, three years old, of the very best quality and true type of the Clydes- " dale breed, standing 16 hands 2 inches high on short legs. He is a very massive colt, with clean flat bones, strong, and well-iormed joints, beautiful silky hair and feet of good quality. He has a beautiful head, neck, and crest, well sprung , ribs, and strong, short-coupled back; altogether he is a most compactly built, wellput together specimen of a draught horse. What's Wanted, as a yearling, gained first prize at Egmont A. and P. Society's show; first prize as a two-year-old ' at Taranaki Metropolitan show. He ' has never been beaten in the show ring, except by his half-brother and stable comr panion Up-to-Date. His sire, Armdale, was got by that celebrated breeding and show-ring sire, Glengyle, out of the fine breeding mare, Nancy, who was shown . until 13 years of ago, and was never beaten in her class. She won nine first and four champion prizes. Duchess of Alexandra's gr dam, Jenny, was one of the best draught mares ever bred or imported to the South Island, being dam of the New Zealand and Australian champion mare, Flower of Balmoral. His dam, Duchess of Alexandra, was a most successful prize-winner, having gained the following prizes, viz. : First anc champion at Tapanui (South Island) as a two-year-old, 1897 ; first prize at Egmont A. and P. Society Show, 1898; first and champion at Wanganui, 1898; first and champion at l'aranaki, 1898; first prize as brood mare and champion prize as best draught mare or filly at Taranaki Metropolitan Show, New Plymouth, 1900. From the foregoing it will be seen that What's Wanted's breeding cannot be surpassed, and he is certain to prove himself a getter of the very best of Clydesdales.
