METHODIST DISTRICT SYMOD.

THIRD DAY. The members of the Synod assembled resterday morning at 9 o'clock. Mr George Watson (Eltbam), who was aot present at the firat representative lession. took his seat., llr J. P. Leary presented the report of :hurch property in the district. It was reported that there were 83 freehold sites two leaseholds, and 51 churches, valued at £17,655 15s 6d ; 10 schoolrooms valued £2670 9s ; 16 parsonages valued £6094 16s lid: and 4 other buildings valued at £2620. The total value of property in the district was £33,215 2s lid; insured for £16,495, with £4056 19s 3d debt The total receipts for the year were £2903 16s 10. Thar erections, enlargements and minor improvements effected during the year were valued at £1105 16s«, including a new church at Eltham, at a cost of £540. Mr Leary pointed out that the values stated were practically original values, and that any unearned increment, was not tabulated, and that the real values were much higher. Mr Leary was heartily thanked for his services, and his reappointment recommended to conference. , The Rev. W. B. Marten was elected as representative to the conference, and it was decided that the next district synod should be held in Wanganui somewhere about the end of November, 1906. It was decided that it is desirable that a separate and self-governing conference be granted to New Zealand, and that, conference be recommended to set up a committee to prepare a form of question to . be submitted to the next September quarterly meetings for consideration and answer, a record being taken of the number present, also of the votes for and against. The committee shall tabulate the results /and prepare a report for district synods, 1905 and conference, 1906.
