A SERIOUS AFFAIR.
PALMEKSTON N., November 10. An elderly woman named Sophia Elderkin, a restaurant-keeper, died suddenly yesterday morning. Subsequently Win, Snunders. a bricklayer, residing on the premises was arrested on a charge of being concerned in her death. It is alleged that Saunders had a dispute with her on the sth inst., which ended in the woman falling heavily on the floor. She appeared to be unhurt for a time, but later on complained of being ill, and died ns stated. At Court this morning Saunders was charged with assaulting deceased whereby bi>r dcu'ili was caused, and was remanded till to-morrow, pending the result of the inquest this afternoon.
