FIRE BRIGADE COMPETITIONS

A very pleasant afternoon .4 sport was onjoyed on Wednesday afturnoon on the rosrrvo opposite ,thy Fire Brigade stition, when several competitions, arranged by the local brigade, were decided.* Captain Dowling, of the Fire Police, acted ira judge, and Mr H. Warcup as starter. Messrs Sargent, Brunette, and Purser were timekeepers. The first contest was the one-man engine event, i,n which competitors had to run from tho front £0 yards to engine, lock fore-carriage, turnover and lock levpro, connect two lengths suction hose to ougino, connect to engine and run out 50 foot canvas hose for each side, and fix branches, run back to engine and give one qtro^e on beat block.
