In November, 1902, one Kwt* Po)lard was petitioner in a suit: far <tivor.ee fcoin her husband, Thorn w, Pojla-rd.,' and succeeded in obtaining from Mr Justice Barnes in, Mwcree ' nisi. Subsequently, howe,ve)j, in, consequence of, suspicions hayI ing ' been aroused regarding trie methods employed W behalf of petitioner by a' private detective agency known (is "Slater's Private Enquiry Office," the King's Proctor intervened to prevent the decree nisi being made absolute. The jury found that Slater's private detective agency had caused Thomas Pollard, the respondent, to commit misconduct, and with the help of a sp^qito? named Osborn, whom Slater rapfoyed, had presented a bogus oaqe W the Court The decree nisi granted to Kate Pollard was accordingly rescinded. Henry Slater, the head of the private detective agency, Albert Osborn, the solicitor, Bray and Davies, two of Slater's detectives, and Henry, the manager of the agency, and pne Smith, were charged, with conspiracy. At the King's Bench division to-day the prisoners found guilty of the offence of conspiracy were sentenced by Mr Justice Darling. The prisoner Henry was sentenced to. a year's imprisonVnent, Davies and Sjpitfc to six months each, and Bray iff, wrt*» months.
The jury failed to, agree regardful Osborn.
