SCOTLAND IN SONG AND STORY.
The public of Hawera are, indeed fortunate in having an opportunity of hearing such world-famed entertainers as Miss Flora Donaldson and Mr Gavin Spencc, who make their first and only appearance in the local Opera House on Friday evening next. The fact of southern critics describing their entertainment as excelling that of the Kennedys will be a sufficient guarantee to those who, were fortunate enough to heat that, family. SpeakI ing of the season in the United Stated a ; contemporary says: "The name of the ; Scottish Entertainers has become almost a household word in America." Miss Don1 nldson is one of only two professional Gaelic vocalists, hailing from the "Land o' Cakes," and she has been honored by being chosen as Scotland's representative soprano at the Scottish Musical Festivals at London, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Dublin, Belfast, etc. Mr Spence is said to be equally effective and attractive, possessing a powerful, and melodious voice. His songs are given with much spirit, their martial tones being thoroughly expressive. The vocal items are preceded and interspersed with brief, welltold anecdotes or descriptions of the songs, and they make a pleasing variation to the programme. The box plan may now be seen at Messrs Cole and Donnelly's, while, a limited number of stall tickets a?e. on sale at Mr F. H. Boase's.
