KUROPATKIN WITHDRAWS NORTH OF MUKDEN. [PBSBB ASSOCIATION.] (Received October 1, 8.43 a.m.) LONDON, September 30. General Kuropat kin's main force has withdrawn northwards of Mukden while strong bodies defend both flanks with many gun positions, trenches and entanglements, especially on the western road to Mukden. A strong rearguard is south of the -town, the southern approaches to which have been mined. JAPANESE AGAIN TAKE OFFENSIVE : (Received September 30, 10.43 p.m.) LONDON, September 30. I The St. Petersburg General Staff state that Japanese have begun an offensive ' movement along the entire eastern and southern front.
