QUEENSLAND GOVERNOR RESIGNS.

In the Legislative Assembly the Premier read a communication from Sir H t Ohermside, in which he announced his resignation of the Governorship of the State. He mentions that in May he notified the (Secretary for the Colonies that he desired, after proceeding on leave of absence, to tender his resignation, and understood he could now absent himteU without inconvenience to public business. Sir. ii. Chermside added that in leaving Queensland he had a very high interest and belief in its .future, and the warmest appreciation of the kindness he had always received. me Premier stated thai Uis Excellency had informed him of his intention in June, but in view of the unsettled political situation ke had deemed it expedient to delay. Sir H. Chermside's resignation is the outcome of an action taken in (he Australian Parliament with the object of- re* ducing the status and emoluments of State Governors. ■
