They were> thrown into great confusion while attempting to cross to the right bank of the Taitso river, the Japanese, pursuing them vigorously, seised the Russian cannon, which they used to shell Liaoyang railway station. Field-Marshal Oyama s right attacked a heavy force of Russians in the vicinity of Leityang Tai 12 miles north-east of Liaoyang, at 11 0 clock on Thursday. His left began at dawn to-day, pressing the Russians toward Satyho. The list of casualties in the fighting before Liaoyang is growing, and the indications are that it will prove tho bloodiest battle since the Franco-Prussian war. Calculations of casualties must include losses since August 23rd, for the contest has been practically continuous since them. The Japs have already reported over 25,000 men in killed and wounded.
