NOHMANBY ELECTORS' ROLL. IN Reply to Mr F. S. Canning's letter * in the Star of the 22nd hist., re "electors roll," on the evening of the ir. meeting in question, in conversation with the clerk, re "ratepayers' roll," he said _ the "valuation roll" had been signed and ' returned from Wellington some time since. (Notice that hero are three different rolls o! mentioned.) For- the time being, at the p meeting, I quite overlooked the fact that the "ratepayers' roll" had been made up _ in April and properly signed. I discovered my orror after the meeting, and the clerk informed Mr Canning the following morning that I had made an error, I thinking ' of the "valuation roll," which would be _ used in place of the "ratepayers' roll." a] If Mr Canning will look up the Town Districts Act for 1883 he will find that the jr "ratepayers' roll" has to be made up in lc April b^ the clerk, and if the clerk has g: not done so, then the "valuation roll" S may be used.
