Tyldesley gave several chances, but his score under the circumstances was a splendid effort. Hill and Trumper's partnership raised hopes somewhat, out with their dismissal the innings resolved itself into a disnial procession. Rhodes was the hero of the contest. With, a wicket to suit him he got 15 wickets for 124 runs, and had half a dozen chances missed off him. The English fielding was bad.
