He sit in the House of Representatives many years ago, and has held other pnblio positions. He had a oolonial reputation as a hortieuUurig*. He leaves a large family, including Mr Thomas Mason, of Hawera. and Mr John Mason, of Wanganui. QHRISTCHtmCH, June 11. Mr W. Blake, Town Clerk of Mew Brighton, died this morning. He oaine to this province in 1863, and was ergigedin the engineers' department by the Provincial Government in opening up the roads on the West Coast at the time of the rash to the .go'dfieldt. Subsequently be was engaged by the general Government in telegraph add railway oonstuction.
