LAND BOARD.
The Board met on Tuesday. Transfers were agreed to as follows, subject to oertain formal conditions in several cases : — R. Mumby to M, Olson, section 82, block 10, Ngaire ; A. and A. T. Hayward to D. Granthum, section 40, block 9, Ngaire ; W. yon Stunner to C. Ritter, section 85, block 10, Ngaire; R. D. and W. D. Anderson' to F. W. Wilkie, section 10, block 5, Kaupokonui ; W. Swadling to W. Young, section? 17, 18, 22, block 3, Omona'; F. A, State to M. Kelly, seotion 8, block 11, Omona. The Board agreed to applications to J sublet, as follows:— J. Routley to H. and H. W. Seed, section 96, block 10, Ngaire ; C. Ritter to G. Short, section 24. block 12, Ngaire. - ... An application by J. and J. O. Harre for re-hearing of their application to transfer sections 8 and 9, block 11, Pouatu, to F. H. Symons, was. con* sidered. — The transfer was granted provided J. Harre takes up, his personal residence on the land retained by him, otherwise the Board will declare the lease forfeited.
On the Gdmmissioner's recommendation, leases will be issued; to -the following improved farm settlors: — J, Mo* Ivor, section 57, block 18, Pouatu; D. Curtin, section 72;* black 14, Pouatu. ..' Tbe Ranger reported on 102 inspection. The area covered was 29,899 acres, value of improvements required £8769, improvements, effected £20,999, Eleven are in default for improvements, 28 are required to reside; 20 are resident, while 28 are resident where not required to reside. — Defaulters will receive the usual notifications. -
Pursuant to notice, Mr Heslop moved, That a resolution of 17th July, 1894, referring to the production of authority to act as agent in all applications to the Board, be rescinded.' 'He moved, That in future, if a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand produces reaßon- ' able evidence of his power to act, that will be sufficient ; but that in the oase of other persons acting for clients, a formal authority will be required. — ' ( Seconded by Mr Connett, and carried. '
MoCarty and Hanger applied for remission of rent of small grazing run 6, Opaku, for one year, and S. W. King and wife made a similar application in respect of section 4, block 7, and 1, block 8, Omona, the reasons being failure to obtain burns, and difficulty of access. — The Board sympathised with the writers, but regretted it could not see its way to make any recommendations ; meantime, however, no extreme measures will be taken to recover rents. — News.
