Auckland. August 18. At the Supreme Court Takirihi Raupeka, charged with attempting, at a place near Bussell, to murder a woman, Agnes Tainui, with whom he had been living, was sentenced to six years' hard labour. [It will be remembered that accused got away after the assault, and Wf»B not captured for some time. |
In the Supreme Court, Henry James Fox, accountant in the Roads Department, was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment for forging and using receipts ana falsifying books. He had previously on excellent character, and attributed bis downfall to drink.
