Received August 18, 3 59 a.m. London, August 17. Mutton : New Zealand sorts unchanged. Lamb : Prime Canterbury, sd ; fair average (inoluding Dunedin, Southland, Wellington, and secondary Canterbury), 4£d ; Wiver Plate, heavy and light, both 3 7-16 d. New Zealand beef: 1801b to 2201b, fair average quality, nominal; ox fores, 4Jd; ox hinds, s§d.

EGMONT FARMEfiS' UNION (LTD.) Hawera, August 16. On Tuesday, August 12th, we held a olearing sale on aocount of Mr Hight, of Okaiawa. The cows were a good line, but rather baokward, and sold at fair value. Bidding -was good throughout tbe sale, resulting in satisfactory prices. Cows sold from L4 los to LlO 10a ; whilst the trap horses realised L2B. On Wednesday, August 13th, at Hastings road, we sold on account of Mr o 'Sullivan the dairy and young stock. Tne cattle had been well wintered, and were brought forward in good condition. Bidding was good throughout. We quote: Yearling beifert, L 2 13s 6d ; yearling steers L 3; 2 year steers, L 4 lie ; cows, and calves, j L 4 6s ; dairy cows, from L 4 to Ll2 15b ; young bulls, L sto L 6 15s; fat cows, L 6 10s ; pigs, slips, 7s 6d to 12s ; bows, L 5 2s 6d.

At Hawera, on Thursday, August 14tu, the yards' were well filltd with cattle of good quality, including several lines of forward store bullocks. Although bidding was good, Borne lines did not reach owners' reserves. Forward steers, L67s to L 6 14s ; 2 to 2J year steers, L 4 to L 5; fat cows, L 6 4b ; springing heifers L 5 Is to L 5 9b; store cows, L 3 5s to L 3 15s; yearling mixed, 35s to 44s 6d.
