NECESSARY.

On the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Cr Potts, it was resolved that all letters and petitions must be handed into the Clerk before 4 o'clock on the afternoon of meeting days.

BURGESS ROLL.

The Council considered the names on burgess roll, the full list of names being gone through singly. It was resolved that the Mayor, Crs Allan, and McGarry certify "to the correctness of the roll.

Mr P. H. Pease waited on the Counoil in reference to docks being placed on the first schedule of the Noxious Weeds Act. He stated that docks were spreading, and the local railway yards were a disgrace. He did not consider Mr Boddie a fair man, as he (Mr Pease) would not be allowed to go into the County Council meeting. It was a matter of sheep farmers against dairy farmers, and it was " sheer cussedness " on people's part not to pull the docks up. If they got a week's imprisonment some of them would not eradicate docks. Everyone was against him, and he had been grossly insulted by various people. He had pulled up an acre of docks in the church yard. Instead of the surfaceman " sand-papering and French polishing " the streets, let him go down the Eawhitiroa Bead and see the docks.

Cr Potts moved, That Mr Pease be accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his able address.

Cr Allan seconded, but objected to docks being placed on the first schedule.

Cr McGarry considered it would be very hard on burgesses if they were compelled to eradicate docks. The Council adjourned.
