The issue of the " Encyclopaedia Britannica," now offered in New Zealand by the Daily Mail, ia The Times' reprint of the ninth and last edition, as issued by its original publishers, Messrs A." and C. Black. The work is divided up into 24 volumes of 850 pages each ; the 25th volume contains an elaborate index to the whole, and a detailed list of contributors. For the MS. alone of the 30,000,000 words, which occupy the 22,000 pages of letterpress, more than £60,000 was paid to the 1100 contributors, and the style in which all this valuable matter is got up makes the work the most costly ever offered to book buyers.
