NARROW ESCAPE FROM FIRE AT ELTHAM.
ALLEGED INCENDIARISM— AN" ARREST. (BY TBIiEGEAPH — BBSIDBNT AGENT.) Eltham, February 25. A narrow escape from a serious fire occurred last evening, about 6.30. A lad named Tartalini noticed smoke emerging from the back of G. Talbot's boot shop, and gave the 1 alarm. Messrs Sullivan, Wilson, and others broke off the door, and found a five in the fireplace, and ft bed ablaze. They promptly put out the fire before much damage was done. Talbot was away at Mangttoiri, but . on his return he was arrested on a oharge of incendiarism. He will come before the Court today. The building is situated in a big block of buildings. Later. Talbot was remanded till 4th March. Bail was allowed.
