' Moat Republicans, the majority of - Socialists, an<i many Trades Unions \ coldly welcome the Barcelona emissa- r ries sent to organise a general strike in Spanish towns. During the Barcelona riots, 100 were killed, 300 injured, and 500 arrested. Cargoes are now being discharged at Barcelona ; some factories ' are resuming. Eighty arrests were made at Tarras. Order has been restored at Zaragoßa and elsewhere. Many anar- | chists were arrested. Received February 25, 9 a.ca. Madrid, February 24. Ordinary life in Barcelona and the neighbouring towns is being resumed. THE PLAGUE. Sydney, February 24. A woman named Campbell, of Woolloomooloo, also Sally Booth and Ada Lee, actresses, are suffering from plague at the Criterion Hotel. Misses Church and Gardiner and Mrs Gardiner have been discharged cured. DREDGING IN THE TRANSVAAL. Received February 25, 9.2 a.m. London, February 24. A New Zealand dredging expert has advised the Transvaal Gold Commission to make dredging* laws similar to those made by the New Zealand and Australian Governments. TELEPHONIC. A telephone system has been opened in London with two thousand subscribers. EPISCOPAL. Received February 25, 9 a.m. London, February 24. Canon Gore has been consecrated Bishop of Winchester.
