, 1' AN IMPORTANT MATTER. r > THE OUTBREAK AT KUROW. ■ (PEA PBB3S ASSOCIATION). Dunhdin, February 19. At the Education Board to-day the matter of the outbreak of tuberculosis among pupils at the Kurow and Duntroon Schools came up. Dr. Byrnes, Health Officer, submitted a report in whioh be agreed with the opinion of Dr. Stevens that over-crowding and bad ventilation have probably been important factors in the serious outbreak, though Borne other causes may also hava* contributed. It was resolved that the matter being one of grave colonial importance, the Government be asked to cause a complete inquiry to be made into the cause or causes of the repeated outbreaks of tuberculosis at Kurow, with special reference to its appearance amongst the school children. It was stated that if the 'outbreak was due to the school-house, the colony was face to face with a question of rebuilding nearly all its schools.
