MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17.
Sir Joseph Ward returned to Auckland on Friday, and leaves for the north of Aucklnnd on Tuesday to inquire into railway matters. He was cordially received in the Waikato.
The Hawera Club was re-opened on Saturday evening, the improvements to tbe building having now been completed. There have been added reading room, library, billiard room, and many other conveniences, and the olub is now up-to date and handsomely furnished.
Constable Salmon, who had a nasty fall from his horse a few weeks ago, and has been off duty since, went to Wellington this morning by train, and it is understood will be examined there by the Police Medical Board with a view to decision as to whether further relief from duty will be granted.
