PREMIER AT HOKITIKA.

Hokitika, February 17. At the turning of the first sod of the Hokitika-Ross railway, the Premier said he hoped the line would be completed in two years. He added that the British-Japanese treaty was of great interest to the colony, and, referring to the Army meat contracts, said arrangements were being made for 20,000 carcases to be drawn from Now Zealand immediately. *
