THE RECENT "DRIVE."

FURTHER PARTICULARS. .

Received February 15, 9.38 a.m.

London, February 14. The recent drive demoralised the Boers who hid in the grass, in dongas, and in the beds of rivers, many shooting their horses. The country was systematically searched. Many prisoners and hundred of horses and thousands of cattle were captured. De Wet intended a big move when the guns were captured, and the drive prevented him creeping eastward. During the night fight along the Heilbron blockhouse line, searchlights facilitated terrific firing, which was the worst since the fighting rouud Ladysmith.

Prisoners describe it as hell.

Commandant Bester was killed, and Field-corneta Taljaard, Prinsloo, and O'Bendaal, were captured. The prisoners estimate there are twelve thousand Boers still in the field.

De % Wet has some Krupp guns hidden.
