PALMERSTON STOCK REPORT.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report : —

At our Palmerslon North sale on Thursday we yarded over 8000 sheep and a full quota of cattle. There was a large attendance of the public, but bidding was dull, and very few lines of sheep were quitted under the hammer. We were, however, successful in placing the bulk of the entry afterwardß at prices slightly under the owner's reserve. There seemed a general disposition on the part of buyers to hold off until after results of the two unreserved sales in Hawke's Bay are known* Bidding for cattle waß brisk and there was a good demand, and we effected a almost complete clearance. at good values. We quote: — " •

Sheep : 4, 6 and f.f.m. Romney ewes, 12b Gd; others, 7s 6d to 83 6d; 2 tooth wethers, 8s 6d; oulls, 6s; lambs, 5s 8d to 5s lOd ; others, 3b to 3s lOd ; oulls, Is 4d.

Cattle : 2$ to 3 year steers, L 5 7s 6d ; forward 3 year old bullocks, LS 16s to L 6; forward and 5 year old buL'ooks, L 6 17a 6d ; fat bullocks, L 7; fat cows, L 4 15s, L 4 18s, L 5 sb, L 5 6d, L 5 10s; .store cows, L 3 15s, L 3 16s, L 4 ; bulls, LI 2s 6d ; 18 months to 2 year steers, L 3 6s ; springing heifers, L 4 10s; springing cows, L 4 17s 6d to L 7 7s.
