HAWERA DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.
When in Wellington last week Mr Bobbins interviewed the Secretary for Education on the subject of the proposed additional buildings at Hawera District Bigh School, designed for the purpose of giving a home and habitation for the art a.nd technical school. He has now, we are glad to hoar, received a telegram from Mr Hogben stating that " £360 has been granted for technical school buildings at Hawera." The Education Board, which has been waiting for this intimation, can now proceed with its scheme for enlargement. As explained some weeks ago, more accommodation is needed for primary work, and in plans for providing this, provision was also made for art and science rooms, in hope that the Government would help in this respect, and now that the requisite grant has been announced, this scheme can be carried out. /300 will provide art and science rooms, and £60 will help to remove part of the old building and convert it into a gymnasium and bench room. This is very satisfactory.
