KIPLING'S IMPERIAL POEM.

Mr Rudyard Kipling's new poem, " The Islanders," published under copyright in the London Times of January 4, has already called forth a storm of praise and editorials. The Pall Mall Gazette has little to say in a complimentary way, although it calls it a "stirring poem, with many resonant lines, but several atrocious rhymes." It says of the versos :—: —

" They miss being poetry and wander a good deal wide of the mark.

"Both in his remedies and in his fault-finding Mr Kipling has failed to get down to the seat of the disease. We cannot, therefore, but look on him as an empiric, though a shrewd and vigorously minded specimen of that class."

"There is much in his ringing, seorn<ful verses," says the St. James' Gazette, " which will and ought to give us all a bad quarter of an hour, but when he pours contempt on to the devotion to sport and speaks of the " flannel od fools at the wicket and the muddled oafs at the gaol " the red hot shot begins to fly a little wide. But with the thought which underlies Mr Kipling's scathing indictment we strongly agree." Most of the afternoon papers have long criticism.

WEAL OR WOE. The stomach is the centre from which from the standpoint of health, flows weal or woe. A healthy stomach means perfect digestion ; perfect digestion means strong and steady nerve centres ; strong nerve centres mean good circulation, rich blood and good health.

Constipation is the prime cause of almost all the diseases that you can think of, and therefore Constipation should never be negleoted. When the first symptoms of Constipation manifest themselves, try Impey's May Apple. It has cured where other medicines have failed. Impey's May Apple is an ideal family medicine ; it keeps the bowels open and regular, and stimulates the functions of the liver and kidneys, keeping them strong and ' active ; acts easily and pleasantly, and the good it does is permanent. Sold by all Chemists and Storekeepers at 2s 6d per bottle. GOOD OPINION. •

Merit tells. Wilton's Bovo-Ferrum niust stand or fall on its merits. This marvellous preparation instills into the blood the most potent blood-forming and nerve-invigorating elements which have ever been found in nature. Here is a tribute to its merits. Miss G. ComptoD, McKenzie Terraoe, Wellington, writes : — " I have been taking Wilton's Bovo-Ferrum for poverty of blood, and I am delighted at the effect of it. I bad previously persevered for some time with ; doctor's medicines without getting any benefit, but the Bovo-Ferrum did me good from the first bottle, and now I am a different woman altogether."
