Auckland, February 13. At the Supreme Court, Emma Bell was sentenced to five years' imprisonment for performing an illegal operation. Mr Justice Conolly said this abominable trade was carried on to a frightful extent. John James and Henry Ahrens, convicted of an unnatural offence, were sent to prison for seven years.
