SOUTH EGMONT COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the South Egmont | Committee was held at Manaia on Wednesday. Present, Messrs Hornby (chair), Haatie, Bobbins and Frethy. i The Brett Publishing Company wrote t offering to supply the N.Z. Graphic to the Mountain House free up to the end of April. The chairman reported that the following had sent gifts of books, etc.: Messrs Stevens, Hawera, and Stevenson, Manaia; also that the Eltham Argus would be supplied free. Votes of thanks were recorded to all the above. It was stated that the piano had been placed in the Mountain House, and was much appreciated by visitors. Mr Dingle and all those associated with him in procuring the piano were heartily thanked. Resolved, That a picnic and dance be held at the Mountain House, the chairman to make all arrangements. The chairman stated that up to tho present we had not received any portion of the Government grant voted last sessioa. The secretary was instructed to writa to the EgmoDt Park Board and ask them when we may expect our portion of the grant, as its is urgently wanted to do the track with in fine weather. Mr Frethy was authorised to procure labor and have some necea- < sary work on the upper track attended to. The secretary was instructed to have a statement of estimated receipts and expenditure prepared, and sent to the Board at once. The chairman was authorised to have printed a circular, setting out the fees for the Mountain House and cottages, and also showing what is supplied for the convenience and amusement of visitors.

• In connection with the Catholic Bazaar we are requested to state that there will be special dances for whioh the ladies have been actively preparing for some time. Two of the dances will be the same as performed recently in Wellington.

Mr H. Caplen, who has successfully undergone surgical treatment at the hands of one of the leading specialists in Melbourne, is expected back in Hawera on Saturday. ■We call attention to sales of blood stook to be held on raoe days by Messrs Nolan, Tonks, and Co.

West Coast Farmers' Trading Association notify that on Saturday furniture and drapery will be offered. Also a large consignment of fruit ; and poultry will be offered at 1 o'clock.
