(Before His Honor Acting-Judge Kenny.) ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT.

William Holmes was indicted on a charge of having indecently assaulted a' little girl on or about 22ud November, 1901.

Mr Barton (Crown Prosecutor) ap. peared for the Crown, and Mr Welsh defended prisoner, who pleaded not guilty. -'X

The following jury was .empanelled : Joseph Higham, G. W. Epping, R. j. Wtlls, D. J. Jones, W. E. Vine, E. H, Barke, P. McAlister, W. R. Twigg, O. "Stone, Jaa. Fitzgerald, W. R. McLean, and H. G. Gibson. Mr Epping was chosen foreman.

Mr Barton outlined the case for the prosecution.

The depositions of the mother of the little girl, given in the lower oourt, were put in, the mother being ill. Evidence on the same lines as that given in the Police Court waa adduced, the witnesses being the little gir), Detective Bishop, and S. Cooper.
