NATIVE GAME.

Thames, February 3.
Two men were charged to-day with having native game in their possession. They pleaded they had been driven by stress of weather into the Piako river, and killed the birds for food. Mr Clendon, prosecuting solicitor, said he had received a communication from Mr Cruiokshank, magistrate at Kaitangata, who stated that bis recent decision was given hurriedly, without argument, and. ou.tbe admission of the prosecution, the defence was correct. In the present oase, the Act had not been repealed, and defendants were fined 40s, and costs.
