HIDEOUS ASYLUM STORY.

A terrible occurrence is reported from the lunatic asylum of Ste Marie. Two female inmates, aged 31 and 42 years, began to quarrel. Both had been strapped down to their beds for the night, but the younger woman succeeded in unfastening a buckle and releasing herself, she threw herself upon her companion and with her teeth attacked the face of the unfortunate creature. When thie keepers arrived they found the latter in a dying state, her nose, mouth, and chixt having been gnawed away, and the skin of her forehead torn off. An official inquiry has been ordered into the circumstances.
