London, January 30. An impression prevails in Berlin that Dr. Van Kuyper, Netherlands Premier, i 3 acting on behalf of the Boers in the field, and endeavouring to facilitate their negotiating with Lord Kitchener. Kruger's denial of co-operation is regarded as significant.
Wellington, January 30. The Casualty Ofnce at Capetown cables as follows : — " Dangerously ill at Heilbron — 4171 A. B. Giraud ; at Wakkerstroom— 3602 Sergeant J. Cabot, 3688 Shoeing Smith Charles Johnston, 2568 Charles Thomas, and Lieutenant) Sherar.
