VOLUNTEER NEWS.

On Wednesday afternoon, the camp in the Kecreation Ground was visited by a large number of the public. In the evening, a concert was given in the mess tent, when a good programme of music was enjoyed by the visitors, who mustered in strong force. The band played a few selections outside, and then an adjournment was made to the tent, which was practically reserved for and quickly filled by the fair sex. The sides of the tent were rolled up, so as to give those standing outside an opportunity to see and hear what was going on. The tent was lit with a number of ornamental Chinese lanterns. Captain Major presided. The items included a pianoforte duet by Misses Fake and Kemp, piano solo by Private Allen, songs by Mesdames Anderson and Foden, Misses Anderson and J. Knight, Messrs A. Campbell, Ctements, Fraser, and Hooker, recitations by Mr A. Coffey, and two choruses by the com- i pany, led by Corpl. Somerville and Private Campbell. The accompaniments were played by Misses Anderson and Fake and Privates Allen and Knowles. Light refreshments were handed round to the ladies during the evening, and the concert was brought to a conclusion by the singing of the National Authem.

Parsons and Co., druggists of this place, to try Chamberlain's Pain Balm. They recommended it co highly that 1 bought a bottle. I was soon relieved of all my pain. I have since recommended this liniment to many of my friends, who agree with me that it is the best remedy for muscular rheumatism in the market." For sale at Hawera General Store.—Advt.
