COLONEL DAVIES AND CAPTAIN BARTLETT PROMOTED.
Wellington, January 29. At the luncheon this afternoon, the Premiei- announced that LieutenantColonel Davies had been promoted to brevet rank, and Captain Bartlett to Major.
Auckland, January 29. In reply to a request for reconsideration of his application for a commission in the Ninth Contingent, Captain Jackson Palmer, M.H.R., has received a telegram from the Defence Minister stating that a commission will be granted him.
