TARANAKI PRESBYTERY.

A meeting of the above was held at Hawera on Thursday.

Rev. Osborne's term of office having expired, Rev. Hutson was appointed moderator of presbytery for ensuing term.

It was reported that new churches bad been opened at Opunake and Eltham.

Hawera applied for permission to proceed to build a new ohurch to cost, exclusive of extras, £1200. Revs. Hutson, Philip, and Bertram, with Messrs Bridge and McJFarlane, were appointed a committee to examine the plans, with power to approve. The seating capacity to be about 300. Reports were read and received from variouß preaching stations, and the following grants from the Church Extension Funds were applied for: — Inglewood, £30; Eltham, £20; Opunake, £20; Manaia, £15; Patea, £20.

It was arranged to hold a Presbyterial visitation at Manaia in March and at Waverley in April.
