MEETING OP N.Z.P.U.

A meeting of the members of the New Zealand Farmers' Union (Normanby branch) was held in the reading room on Saturday evening ; Mr Baker (Waihi) in the ohair. There was a large number of members present.

Resolved, That this branch endorse the resolutions passed by the Stratford branch on November 13th re Farmers' Union register of land and stock, provided that all transactions are on a cash basis. (Gane — Barrow.)

Resolved, That tbe Secretary write to Mr Templer, Stratford, stating that nearly all the members are already insured, but as their policies lapse they will take steps to insure with the Union.

Resolved, That this branch is in favor of a fire insurance fund being established by the members of the Union throughout New Zealand, that is, failing satisfactory arrangements being made with established offices. (Batten— White.)

Resolved, That the Bingle tax be strongly objeoted to by all the members.

Resolved, That the Government be asked to clear all Crown lands, riverbed*, Government roads, and railways, from all noxious weeds.

It was resolved that 17 out of the 25 resolutions passed at, the Nelson Provincial Conference be adopted by the Normanby branch.

Mr Saunders, wbo has carried on business as market gardener for some years, has sold out his property (eleven sections, with dwelling house, etc.), to Mr Simmons, late of Otakeho. The price, I hear, was £250, Mr Saunders and family proceed to Auckland, having brought property about 12 miles from the city.

The Secretary and Committee of the Normanby Horticultural Society are busy getting everything ready for the forthcoming show in March, and everything possible is being done to make the 1902 gathering a real treat to the public throughout the district, who, no doubt, will attend by the thousand.
