THE MELANESIAN MISSION.

Received January 23, 10.29 p.m. Sydney, January 23. The Bishop of Melanesia has arrived at Sydney from a trip round his extensive Island diocese. He visited all the schools and stations, and found everythiog connected with the mission going well.

The Bishop broke new ground on the island of Tekepia, where he left two teachers. The islanders are Polynesians, of fine physique, and wearing their hair down to the waisfc. The tallest scon was sis feet seven inches. On the return journey he found the island suffering from famine, numbers of people djing, and was compelled to remove the teachers; but gave what relief was possible.

After a short stay hero, Bishop Wilson proceeds to England to buy a new mission vessel.
