FLOOD AT HOKITIKA.

Hokitika, January 23, There was heavy rain last night, and there is a big flood in the river to-day. The low lying portion of the town is under water. The floods will probably do a good deal of damage. A big sea is rolling in. It is doubtful if Sir Joseph Ward will get through to the coast to-m orrow.
Bollock driver wanted. Mr George Moore, Bucoessor to Messrs J. Adamaon and Co., butchers, has a trade notice to-day.
A gigantic sale of men's and boys' cloth Ing now raging at the Eoonomic. The firm's half-yearly distribution is a popular one, and they are going to eolipse their previous efforts if possible.— Advt.
