Auckland, January 21.

News from the Islands states that the British barque Saverwak, bound from San Francisco to Queenstbwn with a cargo of wheat, was totally wrecked on one of the Panmotos (Society Islands). Part of tbe crew reached Tahiti early in January, and were picked up in a half-starved condition. The captain and several of the crew left for Quambia Island for assistance. Ten men remained with the wreck. There is no news of the captain and his party. The French authorities sent a gunboat go the scene of the wreck, and to search for the captain.
