WOOL SALES— ADVANCE IN PRICE.
London. January 21. The wool sale t have opened strong. Prices arc five to ten per cent in advanco of closing rates of last sales.
Wellington, January 22. The Agent General's cablegram, dated London 20th, states: "No alteration in mutton market since last week. The Kumara's new season's lambs, brands other than Canterbury, 5d to 5Jd. No alteration in beef. Butter steady at 106s, Danish 108s. Cheese 50s. Hemp, firm, quiet. " Good fair Wellington," spot £34 10s ; February- April shipment, £33 10s. Cocksfoot, firm, but inactive at 40s.
