THE BOSTON CONCERT COMPANY.
It is seldom, perhaps never before, that such a brilliant combination as the Boston Concert • Company have vouchsafed to visit us. The action of those citizens who in the capacity .of guarantors have secured this visit is to be highly commended. Bernard Walther ranks as one of the foremost violinists of the twentieth century, and his playing is compared favorably with that of the great Sarasate. The Liverpool Courier says of Lilian Walther, " Never have we listened to such a rich mezzosoprano ; her numbers called forth rapturous applause. She is queen on the stage in appearance, style, and manner. In Cyrus Brownlee Newton the company have a host in himself. He is master of the monologue, r prince in bis line. His whole soul is wrapt in his work. He has made thousands laugh, he will make thousands more." Miss Beatrice Varfcba is pianist of the front rank. This artist will be remembered in connection with the tours oi Madame Trebelli and Bessie Doyle. Judging by the booking, which is already extremely brisk, the company is assured of excellent houses.
