MR THOMAS PACEY.

After a long illness, Mr Thomas Pacey passed away at his residence, Regent street, on Sunday afternoon. Up to within a couple of years ago, the deceased was in possession ot fairly robust health, but then he developed some internal trouble, which necessitated an operation being performed. He rallied somewhat after that, and continued to take an active part in public matters up to a few months ago, when weakness compelled him to retire. For some years he was a valued member of the Borough Council, and during his term of office as chairman of the Works Committee devoted much time to the interests of the town. He was also fo? a long period a member of the local School Committee, during which he evinced practical interest in scholastic matters. Thorough in all he attempted, the deceased was of the useful manner of man, whose membership of a local body was valuable. Ho leaves a family, of which Mv Arthur Pacey, builder, is a well-known member. Mrs Pacoy died some few years ago. "We feel sure the relatives of the deceased gentleman will have general sympathy in the loss which they have sustained. The body will be taken to Auckland for burial.
