FREEMAN R. JACKSON AND CO.'S REPORT.

1 JoiinsonviM/E, January 25. . Messrs Freeman B. Jaokson and Co., in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams, report on their Johnsonville sale : —Fat cattle, in limited supply, proved equal to requirements. The quality generally was good. Ox beef made 20s to 22s the 100 lbs, prices ranging from L 8 23 6d to L 9 ss. Fat cows : The inquiry was weak. Medium sorts made L 5 to LS 6s. A small entry of fat sheep, but of good weight and quality, were on a par with last week's prices. The demand, however, was hardly as keen. Prime eweß 13s 6d to 14s ; extra, 15s 6d ; light ewes, 12s. At St Hill Street, on Wednesday, we had a full yarding of stock. The attendance was good. The sad news of the death of our beloved Queen threw quite a gloom over the community, and no doubt had an effect upon the market. The bidding was not so spirited at auction, resulting in several lots being passed in. We sold most lines afterwards at satisfactory prices. Sheep were in good demand, a nice lot of Napier wethers realising 13s 6d. At Waverley, last Friday, our yards were well filled with both sheep and oattle. Bidding was keen throughout, and everything sold readily. We quote— At St. Hill Street— Cattle : Fat steers (light) L 7 10s, fat cows L 4 15s 6d, 3 and 4 year steers L 5 14s to L 6 2s 6d, 12 to 18 months steers L 2 17s to L 3, mixed yearlings L 2 5s to L 2 10s, weaners 28s to 30s.
