One third Lawes' Superphosphate ; one third Thomas' Phosphate ; one third Bone Dust. This is a firat-olass Turnip Manure, and is speoially recommended for wet or sour lands. MIXING. — The manures are not mixed until the orders are sent out, and purchasers at their option can have the original manures sent to them in the makers' bags and make the mixtures themselves. KAINIT The addition of a Bmall proportion of Eainit to any of the mixtures is an advantage, and can be made without extra charge, specified by the purchaser when giving the order. SPECIAL MIXTURES oan be made at any time to suit farmers. NOTE.— The «• M " Manure gave the best results in proportion to cost out of nineteen experiments with Champion Swede Turnips at the Government Experimental Farm, at Momohaki, in 1897 (see page 170, Fifth Report of Agricultural Depart- ! ment) : — SPECIAL POTATO MANURE, £5 PER TON. The experiments made at Momohaki with various manures upon Turnips in the Season 18981899 show that the BEST result was obtained from a mixture of one third steamed bone dust and two thirds basic slag (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the best result, at a minimum cost, was from a mixture of one third Lawes' Superphosphate and two thirds of the W.M.E. Oo.'s "M " Manure. The lattw mixture contains the same components as the W.M.E. Co.'s 'No. 8 Mixture, the proportions being a little different. The former combination points to the fact, now generally recognised, that the value of basic , slag, also known as Thomas' Phos- i phate, has been greatly underestimated. The W.M.E. Co.'s No. 4 Mixture contains one third of Thomas' Phosphate. A perusal of the report of Mr Gillanders, the manager at Momohaki, embodying the results of the experiments referred to, which will be found in the Seventh Report of the Department of Agriculture, would aipply repay . any farmer who finds a difficulty in selecting the most suitable manures.
