MIXING. — The manures are not mixed until the orders are sent out, and purchasers at their option oan have the original manures sent to them in the makers' bags and make the mixtures themselves. X AINIT.— The addition of a small , proportion of Eainit to any of the I mixtures is an advantage, and oan be made without extra charge, speoified by the purohaset when giving the order. SPECIAL MIXTURES can be made a* any time to suit farmers. NOTE.— The «M " Manure gave the best results in proportion to ! cost out of nineteen experiments ; with Champion Swede Turnips at 1 the Government Experimental Farm, at Momohaki, in 1897 (see page 170, Fifth Report of Agcioultural Department) :— The experiments made at Momohaki with various manures upon Turnips in the Season 18981899 show that the BEST result was obtained from a mixture of one third steamed bone dußt and two thirds basio slag (Thomas' Phosphate), whilst the best result, at a minimum cost, was from a mixture of one third Lawes' Superphosphate and two thirds of the W.M.E. Oo.'s 11 M " Manure. The latter mixture contains the same components as the W.M.E. Oo.'s "No. 3 Mixture, -the proportions being a little different. The former combination points to the fact, now generally recogniaed, that the value of basio slag, also known as Thomas' Phosphate, has been greatly under* estimated. The W.M.E. Co.'s No. 4 Mixture contains one third of Thomas' Phosphate. A perusal oi the report of Mr Gillanta, the manager at Momohaki, embodying the results of the experiments referred to, whioh will be found in the Seventh Report of the Department of Agriculture, would amply repay any farmer who finds a difficulty in selecting the most suitable manures.
