FAILURE OF A BOER ATTACK.

London, September 30. The Boers, under cover of the bush, came within 200 yards of Pinaar Station.
Seven of the enemy were killed and a number injured by mountain guns, and tho explosion of mines. Private Waddell, New South Wales, was lulled, and Private Pound wounded, in the subsequent pursuit. Received Ootober 1, 10.15 a.m. London, September 30. The Portuguese are much gratified with the review of British troops at Komati Poort. Lord Roberts congratulated the King on behalf of the Army. ! Wellington, October 1. I Cables from Cape officials state that 1 the Tokomaru left on the 26th for Wellington with Private Fitzherbert (discharged) and Troopers McTavish and ,Cuafar (invalided). McTavish was a ■ member of the Hotchkiss Battery, and belongs to Wellington. Cuafar comes from Blenheim. Both belonged to the Second Contingent. Saddler Ellison was discharged from the hospital on the 27th, fit for duty. Ho belongs to the Third Contingent, and came from Christchurch.
