HAWERA II. V. RIVALS II.
Despite the wet weather these teams played their fixture yesterday, and Hawera finished victors by biz points to nil. A good dribbling rush by the for wards ended in Larcomb scoring for Hawera. Later on in the first spell Pratt kicked right down the field and following up well, beat the fullback and scored. Neither try was converted. The second spell was very even, and no further score was made. The game throughout was pretty closely contested, but the state of the ground prevented anything like good passing among the backs. Hawera team has now a very substantial lead for Mr Jury's cup, having won every match except one, with Waimate, which ended in a draw.
It was resolved that Hawera -Bival match in dispute be made a fresh fixture for AugUßt 16th. As matches have been put back a week this will probably mean 23rd.,
The following will represent the Hawera I. toam against White Star at Bayly Park :— McCarthy, Hunter (2), Weston, Rowe, Walshe, Moore, Riddle, Wilson, Livingstone, Larcom, Malcolm, Caplen, Greig, and McLean. Emergency : Smith. Game starts at 3 o'clock.
