A keen debate took place in the House of Commons upon a resolution by Mr Sydney Gedge, Conservative member for Walsall, declaring the lawlessness of the olergy.
The Right Hon. A. J. He appealed to the moderates to disassociate themselves from the extremists, whose attitude impeded increased spiritual freedom of the church.
The House, by 200 to 14, demanded that preferment should be restricted to those olergy who were prepared to abide by the Bishops' prayer-book and the Eocleaiastioai Courts.
